Internet is the most
important thing in our life. We need this for our life, study even
shopping. As the development of our
society, the risks of Internet privacy have been a big issuer of the Internet.
There are three biggest Internet privacy risks in 2013.

Cookies are proliferating. A
cookie, also known as an HTTP cookie, or browser cookie, is a small piece of
data sent from a website and stored in a user's web browser while the user is
browsing that website. It must have
cookies when we using any Internet browser. A single site that might deposit on
or two cookies on our laptop or PC.
People may track you from those cookie that deposit in your laptop or
PC. They may know which web site you open a lot and know your personal
habits. The hacker can track your laptop
or PC using whose cookies. The DO Not Track option in any web browser isn’t
going to help you at all.

The government is in your cloud. According to Gartner, 36 percent
of consumer content will be stored in the cloud by 2016. Cloud is like online
memory card. You can access your
personal cloud anywhere that has Internet. People may put some music and video
in their cloud. But right not, people may put some personal information or
important personal documents in the cloud also. There have not a strong
protection about this kind of information in cloud right now. This is still a
leak in U.S law: Online data is exempt from traditional Fourth Amendment
protection. The "unreasonable search and seizure" clause of the
Constitution only applies to property that is in your possession, such as on
your computer's hard drive. Data stored in the cloud gets no such built-in
protection.

You can be tracked. If you are being tracked; however, you really
don’t know about this. People can track your location though any of your social
network. In many of the social network like Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram,
they may post your location while you’re posting your pictures or any kind of
personal status.

"This is still a leak in U.S law: Online data is exempt from traditional Fourth Amendment protection." This is the problem we are starting to see when it comes to internet privacy. In any other case it would be illegal to spy on citizens the way the government is doing now in the name of "security". The internet was not created when the laws were drafted and should be revamped to keep up with the way information is stored and shared.
ReplyDeleteEven in the U.S law has some protection about the online privacy. However, in some way still very hard to find out the way how the informtion had been steal out from any kind of internet or cloud servse.
DeleteIt is scary that you can be stalked and tracked online by people you don't know. There is always people out there in the world that are lurking to do evil and creepy things. People just have to be careful with what they put out there on the internet. I always think twice before I hit submit and limit my contact online to only people I have known for awhile.

ReplyDeleteWith the cloud still being fairly new technology, I definitely wouldn't trust anything like personal or confidential documents being stored on there safely. It's a good way to keep from losing it due to hardware problems on your computer but it is possible it can be accessed by someone else if they know how and where to find it, such as the government as you mentioned.

DeleteNow days with gps locators always searching and running on our smart phones, we are all literally on the map. If someone really wanted to locate us especially the government. Our privacy on the internet I think is an illusion that most of us have. anytime we turn on our phone we are acceptable to being watched or even stalked by people we have know idea even know who we are.
ReplyDeleteThe samrt phones is one of our important tool in our life right now. Even the location thing may help people to find your phone if you lost your phone. But still will let people to located your location. We don't need to worry about this too much. because we need using our phone everyday, there always has some protection about this kind of thing.

ReplyDeleteBacking up your phone/computer in "iCloud" for example is very confusing to me because there is no physical storage for the files but it is still accessible from anywhere you go as long as their is internet available. However, if these files/information is not secured and protected than that could be a huge issue by losing valuable information to harmful people. I wonder have hackers figured out a way to hack inside some of these clouds and collect valuable information?
ReplyDeleteEven the Icloud is a very good tool to use. the apple company has very poweful protection for users information. But just be careful to using the icloud kind of stuff. To aviod to upload any kind of perosnal information online is a best way to do your personal privacy.
